While attempting to do some speed training during Key Run #1, I happened upon the idea of increasing my tempo from block to block or lightpost to lightpost. As defined by the Google Sports Coach: the term fartlek
"comes from the Swedish for 'Speed Play' and combines continuous and interval training. Fartlek allows the athlete to run whatever distance and speed they wish, varying the intensity, and occasionally running at high intensity levels. This type of training stresses both the aerobic and anaerobic energy pathways."Let's take a look at an overview of the week's activities. In the "chart" below, R = Running, B = Bicycling, and I've also noted increases or decreases from the previous week):
Monday: Off DayI will be away from home (either in Virginia or on the road back to New York) until mid-week, with my first day back being Wednesday. Once back I'm hoping to build up my cross training minutes. This Saturday will also be the not-so-grand-finale (for me, anyways) of the Freezeroo Series, with the penultimate race being the Churchville 10k.
Tuesday: R 5.75 miles
Wednesday: B 15 min.
Thursday: R 10.7 miles
Friday: B 15 min.
Saturday: Off (Travel Day)
Sunday: R 5.5 miles
TOTALS--R 21.7 miles (-1.75 miles), B: 30 min. (-120 min.)
Here's to hoping for another productive week beginning on Wednesday with Key Run #1...
Embrassez votre été invincible!
