Francis/Kofahl Memorial 5k

Run: 3.1 miles in :20:49 min. @ 9:00 a.m.

Weather: Mostly Cloudy, 65°F, 91% Humidity, Winds: From SE @ 2 mph; feels like 65°F.

Pace: 6:42 min./per mile avg.

Pre-Race Observations: Less than fourteen hours following the completion of yesterday's East Rochester 5k, I wake up this morning to prepare for a cross-country 5k in the western suburb of Chili. I am admittedly unprepared for the logistics of the event; I don't even know where to go for the run... yet. The time I have to mentally and physically get myself in order feels very compressed as I still need to shower, get dressed, map out the location, drink my coffee and H2O... at least there was still some cereal left to wolf down within my self-imposed timeline.

I haven't participate in a timed cross-country run at this distance in at least four months, so I am looking forward to establishing a more current time for the distance and surface. My previous PR of :22:56 was established this past March at the Perinton Earth Day 5k.

Post-Run Reflections: What a great run I had today! Not only did I finish with a PR (5k, trail) of :20:49, over 2 minutes better than my last timed race at this distance and surface, but I also placed 2nd in my age group (M30-39).

The trip to the race didn' start out so well, as I had put together directions to the wrong park! Fortynately , today, Anne did not go with me to the race, so I could call her on the cell for help in arriving to the race on time. Just as I was about to go home, we figured it out together and the "morning at the races" was saved!

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
