Run: 6.5 Sweaty, Stinky miles in :50:13 min. @ 6:30 a.m.

Weather Report: Partly Sunny, 73°F, 75% Humidity, Winds: CALM; feels like 74°F.

Pace: 7:44 min./per mile avg.

Stirring the sugar and cream into my coffee this morning I listen intently for the forecast for today. I've gotten up early in the hopes of getting a quick-ish run in before meeting my daughter at her orthopaedist at 8:00 a.m. I am not surprised to hear the radio weather person eventually get around to remind me that today will be just as rough as yesterday: "intense heat, dizzying humidity, ozone warning in effect, very sticky," and so for us, the heat goes on...

The humid temperatures are so uncomfortable, in fact, that here in River City, the authorities no longer bother to wait around for the opportunity to harass those folks who break open fire hydrants to cool themselves. Now, neighborhood kids are invited to partake of the free-flowing water which erupts from the opened hydrants. Willingly opened by firefighters, specific hydrants on designated streets, are being left open for those who have no other way to escape the heat...

While it is a potentially dangerous day for a run, I'm feel equipped with water and, more importantly the proper mindset--so with my common sense prepared to stop if necessary, I head out into the still morning for a short run...

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!

Occasionally, I use images from other sites. When this happens I like to give those cats credit. The pic above to the right is entitled "Hydrant Kids " from diverse images.
