Full Belly Golf Course Runnin'

Run: 5 miles in :45:00 min. @ 9:30 a.m.

Weather: Mostly Cloudy, 76°F, 89% Humidity, Winds: SW @ 10 mph; feels like 76°F.

Pace: 9:00 min./per mile avg.

Last week while at a race (I was just watching, not participating myself this time) I bumped into an old friend, Jerry, who, it turns out, also enjoys a good recreational run. Although he runs nearly every other day, Jerry does not sign-up to run in races. After catching-up briefly, I suggested that he call me if he’d like to go running some day. This morning, following a short conversation on the telephone yesterday, we met up for a trail run together at some paths in a local park.

The only request Jerry made of me was to “eat a big breakfast, so you don’t run so fast!” Being someone who neither likes to disappoint, or fall behind, I upped the timeline and stuffed my face at dinner last evening. (We had gone to my in-laws, a place where the expectation of a hearty appetite on the part of yours truly looms large.)

The destination? A series of trails winding around (and briefly through the greens of) the Durand Eastman Golf Course. The outcome? A fine training run on a humid day with a suitable number of inclines, though not so challenging that a friendly conversation could not be carried on and camaraderie shared...

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
