Turkey-stuffed Black Friday Run

Target Pace: 9:00 min./per mile
Actual Pace: 7:47 min./per mile

Weather: Light Snow, 25°F, 82% Humidity, Wind: W @ 6 mph; feels like 18°F
Course: Mister Scott’s Fat Turkey Almost 8 available on USATF’s Map It!

Last evening, like many sado-masochistic recreationally athletic American’s, just before settling into bed, I stepped on the bathroom scale to check my weight… OUCH! (I know I’m not supposed to weigh myself late at night, especially after gorging on apple pie, turkey stuffing and more turkey—but I couldn’t resist this temptation either!) It was at that point that the “should I or shouldn’t I” internal dialogue around post-holiday running was resolved… I knew I would be waking up early to run.

While my mother, among a jillion others on Black Friday, would be hitting the pavement to shop, I would be slipping into the (oddly shrunken?) tights to go for a jog. Though I actually should have killed two birds with one stone and gone to my local FleetFeet for shopping, running and waffles(!), my post Thanksgiving schedule (stepson's swimming practice, my own kids coming to visit, among other stuff) made slipping out before 8:00 a.m. a more manageable alternative.

Embrassez votre été invincible!
