Pre-Run Permutations: My last long run of this training plan. With exactly three weeks until the Buffalo Marathon, it's all down hill from here. This morning I am leaving, as there is much to do today, with a bag of Clif Blocks, two flasks of H2O (rather than one H2O and one PowerAde), and wearing two running shirts instead of my traditional penitential cotton tee.
And away I go...
Post-Run Reflections: Between yesterday's 11 and today's 19+, this weekend represents my most significant cumulative mileage over two days in many a moon. I ran out of gas towards the tail end of my training run today, but I did stick to my plan and meet the goal of my marathon pace (8:00 min miles for a finishing time of 3 hours and thirty minutes) and built in four walk breaks. The first came after six miles, then the rest came every two miles following. I also came to some conclusions about what to bring on my person (gel and cell, I'll leave the water to the aide stations) and what to wear ("short" shorts and a wicking shirt). Ideally, the weather in Buffalo in three weeks will be very reminiscent of today... in my mind the conditions were perfect!
Breathe in, breathe out… YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
