The Training Week That was... 5/26-6/1

The week following the Buffalo Marathon was primarily a recovery one, during which I employed my bicycle to cross-train my way back into running by the following weekend. While there were a few tweaks and aches, as a result of the race, I feel ready to begin planning something more extensive (translation: another lo-o-o-ng "race"), but just what that will be is still being considered; perhaps a marathon or "adventure" run. I'm getting the feeling (once again) that it will be much easier for me to be motivated to train with an objective in mind rather than just periodically (and, therefor, aimlessly) setting off for a run every few days with no focus.

What did "go down" this week, relative to "training" is as follows:
Legend: R = Running, ri = recovery interval, ez = easy, mt = mid-tempo, wu = warm-up, cd = cool down, ez = easy, B = Bicycling

Monday: Rest
Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday: B 22 miles
Thursday: B 31.8 miles
Friday: Rest
Saturday: R 3.3 miles easy
Sunday: R 5.5 miles (3.1 race + 2.4 easy)
TOTAL (Run)--8.8 miles (-21.3 miles from the previous week)
TOTAL (Bicycle)--43.8 miles
Weigh-In*: 183.0 lbs. (+2 lbs. from the previous week) [* @ 5:30 a.m. on 6/2]
In the short term, I have registered for next Saturday's PowerBar Trail Race at Mendon Ponds Park. The great thing about this particular run is that there are both 4.5 and 9 mile options, which allows for one to "opt out" after a single 4.5 mile loop. With warm temperatures forecast fro this coming weekend (though weather-folk can't seem to get the weather prediction correct for the next day, let alone seven days away!), it is always good to have that option available. While I have run this course a few times (forward and backwards) I have yet to place in a "race," and as all the big studs come out for it, I am only hoping to continue to improve.

Hopefully by next week, I'll have a stronger sens as to just what it is I will training for during the upcoming summer months...

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
