Headlamp, Ho!

Run: 6.1 miles in :49:00 min. @ 7:40 p.m.
Weather: Mostly Cloudy, 25°F, 47% Humidity, Wind: SE @ 5 mph; feels like 18°F.
Pace: A very discouraging 8:02 min/mile.
Course: Down Monroe to Culver Rd., down Highland to South Goodman, down Elmwood to Winton, up Winton to Highland, past Cobbs Hill and home.

With tomorrow evening being the first in the winter series of snowshoe runs (which will in all likelihood become a trail run by 6:00 p.m. tomorrow evening) sponsored in part by my city government, I dragged myself out these evening with a few basic objectives: firstly, to get out moving, hopefully in a more timely pace than the previous run, and secondly, to try running with my headlamp--a required piece of equipment for the night-time trail run.

After almost fifty "huffy-puffy" minutes I made my way home having accomplished one of two... though I hadn't worn my old-school Coleman headlamp to run in almost three years (and despite that it is not one of the slimline models which are so in vogue with the "runner-ati" now), I felt remarkably comfortable running with the dual straps pulled around a knit cap. The pace I ran at (not scientifically measure, mind you, I used my cell phone clock!) seemed no quicker but I did feel better during and following the run.

Embrace your invincible summer!
