Scrawlings Written Under the Influence of Rain...

No Backyard Birdwatch or Training posts today. Torrential down pours, combined with a day of summer-time professional developement with Alan November, left me time only to catch my breathe, do some calendaring, and go for a walk with Anne (my wife) and Gracie (our dog). The rain has created a welcome opportunity for some quiet reflection and the smell of a good rain does wonders for my spirit.

Digging through my notebook I came across a few ideas/thoughts that have been perculating just below the surface, and I hope to revisit and more fully develop them over the next few weeks. One for which I have not decided on a specific format (post, poem or essay) is a reflection on the recent deaths of some of our "great" domesticated ancient masters (turtles and apes) which have been acknowledged recently in the news. This seems to me somehow significant and I want to think on it more carefully before commenting.

Another event on the horizon I am looking forward to posting about is Anne and my "quickie" trip to Tupper Lake in the Adirondack Mountains this weekend. No computer, television, professional development, or fantasy baseball. But, Anne and I will be doing some birding, hiking and maybe canoeing, as well as retrieving Gregory from Boy Scout Camp!

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
