Run: 6.5 miles in :47:23 min. @ 8:30 p.m.Heart Monitor Data: 708 cals, 86% MHR avg., 92% MHR max.
Weather Report: Rain Shower, 70°F, 80% Humidity, Winds: Calm; feels like 70°F.
While it may not be totally obvious to you yet, especially judging from the weather icon in the upper left hand corner tonight, but soon those "Rain Shower" and "Sunny" will be replaced by moon characters on both this blog and the weather site (Weather.com) from which I pull them. Just as Summer is ending for students, it is for me as well, and as my ow kids become involved in soccer, swimming, instruments, clubs, I will need to begin radically changin how and when I run. I have begun preparing for this change tonight...as, for the first time since the Wild West Relay three weeks ago, and the first time prior to that in almost four months, I ran my training run in the dark.
Tonight's run was a significnt improvemnet over yesterday's LSD. A slightly faster pace, and the quiet darkness of the city side streets, created a situation in which I could focus much more fully on my form and breathing. I did my best to maintain an MHR above 85% by picking up my level of effort when my heart rate dipped below 84%.
One thing that is definately more challenging about training at night is the smell of Asian foods wafting though the humid night air while running by the many Thai and Chinese restaurants along my route...
Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
