Track: (Anticipated) 4 x 1600m @ Tempo w/1.5 min. recovery, 5 min. break, 8 x 75m strides (on grass), 1.25 mi. Warm-up/Cool-down @ Recovery Pace (70-84% MHR).Weather Report: Mostly Cloudy, 68°F, 46% Humidity, Winds: E @ 12 mph; feels like 68°F.
Once again following the photocopied worksheets from the Greater Rochester Track Club Spring Workout Sessions, I made my way to the track.
Once at there, I was glad to see that there would be a varsity soccer game in the next field over, which would hopefully, keep me from thinking too much about the fact that I was running in circles (on the track). Here's what actually went down...
1.25 warm-up @ Recovery Pace--:10:50 @ 80% avg. MHR/91% max MHR (Recovery)So, I did do two of the 1600m runs, but failed to do the other two, mostly becuase a) I needed to get home to accompany my wife to a parent meeting at my stepson's school, and b) my motivations was waining. I did, though, force myself to finish one set of two strides!
4 x 1600m @ Tempo w/400m. recovery lap
1st 1600m--:06:30 min., 87% avg. MHR/91% max. MHR
2nd 1600m--:06:39 min., 89/933rd 1600m4th 1600m
400 m recovery lap
2 x 75m strides (on grass)
1.25 warm-up @ Recovery Pace--:11:17 @ 83% avg. MHR/92% max MHR (Recovery)
I was relatively pleased with 1600m times as they reflected pretty closely y split times for the 10 and 20k distances. I'm looking forward to bettering last year's time (1:37:05.098/0:07:25 Split) at the Oak Tree 1/2 Marathon this coming Sunday. I would be very pleased if I could finish in 1:30:00, so that will be my "target finish."
Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
