Bruegger's Bagel 5k Mayhem!

Run: 5k (3.2 miles) in :00:00 min. @ 9:30 a.m.

Weather Report: Mostly Cloudy, 58°F, 75% Humidity, Winds: NE @ 10 mph; feels like 58°F.

Waking up this morning, I had my (now) traditional pre-race breakfast consisting of a bowl of hot oatmeal and two cups of coffee. Afterwards, I spent about 10 minutes doing some hip opening stretches with my friend Rodney Yee, care of the Garden segment of his video, Yoga for Meditation.

Just a few weeks ago (August 26), I ran a PR of :19:38 at the 5k distance at Greece Police Athletic League 5K. Today, were I to be running by myself, my goal would be to equal that time, or, given my recent injuries, at least post a sub-20 minutes time. Last year at this same race, I ran with my daughter and we posted a time of about :27:20.

Again, this year I would hope we both would do at least a little better. I decided at the start of the race that, rather than running to place well myself, I would run and support my daughter in her race. This worked out pretty well...Really well, actually, as she came in first in her age group! We improved our time from last year's race by almost three minutes! The post-race festivities (see below) included an award cermony and many free bagels (surprise!) and juices for the other kids who came to watch, so it was an all-around good race for all involved.

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!

Used to run my ass off. Not any more. No motivation. Plan to die a fat hairy bastard.
