The picture to the right is of our family dog, Gracie. She's an English Springer Spaniel and her pic is included here because I just felt like posting it--so there! I did feel a little badly yesterday as Gracie had to stay home when the rest of us went to my in-law's for Turkey Day. I thought of Gracie yesterday during the Webster Turkey Trot as many folks brought their dogs to the race, which was kind of nice... perhaps Anne and I should have brought our dog, too. Maybe next year...Following yesterday's successfull completion of the Trot 4.4 run (a race, a run I would definately like to revisit next year--very nice, familial, community energy at play), my right ankle was beginning to feel slightly tweaked. I spent the afternoon/evening following wearing a polyurethene brace to stabilize it, as I moved around my in-law's eating drinking and watching football.
I had hoped that this morning, after popping some ibuprofen for the past twenty-four hours, that my ankle would feel a little better, and so I could venture out for a frozen "Black Friday" morning run. No such luck... and oddly this sets okay with me. While I am not looking forward to recapping my weekly mileage on Sunday, as it is going to be wa-a-ay lower than last week's record personal high, I can't let that motivate me to run and further exacerbate what I suspect is just a "tweak."
While leafing through some older Runner's World magazines this morning, I came across short mention, in the June 2006 issue, of a unique lacing pattern. This method of lacing one's running shoes is suggested to alleviate pressure on your foot and threfore, reduce foot and ankle pain. What the heck... maybe I'll give it a try and see if it helps, that is when I do go running tomorrow.
Of course, a short stationary bicycle ride today is not out of the question!
Embrassez votre été invincible!
