Cycling (Trainer): 30 min. @ 1:30 p.m.

As much as I wanted to go for a run again today (it is almost 50°F outside this afternoon!), the lingering ache in both my left and right Achilles tendons, possibly as a result of yesterday's brief jaunt, reminded me that "slow and steady" will get be back in the run.

So it was with a sense of satisfaction in knowing I had made the conscious effort to pace my return to the roads, that I made my way down to the basement for a self-actualized ride around the basement. Basement cycling is certainly not as easy as it appears, especially when the scenery is lacking (see pic to right for the scenic view from my cycle seat)... which is where visualizing, whether by reading or listening to music, comes into play, as it did today.

During my ride I got into both the most current issue of Runner's World magazine and a few pages from The Secret, an section which was, in an unsurprising coincidence if your familiar with the book at all, about visualization.

In the end, the thirty minute ride did not "feel" like thirty, or even twenty, minutes, thanks in no small part to the small "movie" (like in the image at the top of the post) that was playing in my head, prompted by the pretty pictures and an article about healthy eating... ahhh, the joys of bicycling through my gardens!

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!

Wasnt it Elaine Boozler who said riding a stationary bike was like Zen Biking----you never really go anywhere??? Being disabled, i love my bike.

Hello! I'm back from my business trip!

I missed reading your blog. I was in China and the internet speed was so slow. I couldn't publish my comments becos the visual verification refused to show up.

Ah, I see that you are still not healing well. Take care, my friend. You still have a long way to go.
