Injury Update: Information NOT Excuses

"Excuses are the tools with which persons with no purpose in view build for themselves great monuments of nothing."~Steven Grayhm
My apologies to my two readers, whom I guess are tired of reading about the tweaks and pulls that have been plaguing me of late and kept me from running. I, too, am frustrated with needing to go over (and over and over) it, but I am trying to discipline myself to mention them when there is something new to say. Now, I have something to add, although inconclusive, that can move the discussion forward, if ever so slightly...

The last time I really went running was nearly four weeks ago (February 11), and after working through the health care system, I finally have two doctor's appointments coming up in the next two weeks that should begin to supply me with some choices. Next Tuesday, I will be seeing my podiatrist for my Morton's toe, which had been growing increasingly uncomfortable. He may also have some suggestions regarding my ankles.

The following week, I have an appointment scheduled with my orthopedist, the same person who preformed my shoulder surgery nearly three years ago, and helped me with my knees a year ago. This time it is for "bilateral ankles." The backs of both of my ankles continue to be uncomfortable, but now, despite my attempts to stretch them out, they feel "tight" more than anything.

From her on out, the tools I will continue to use are patience, information and dedication. While frustrated, and slightly bummed, by the est period, I am making the best of it and will re-assert energies relative to diet and exercise, beginning today. While I wholly recognize that in the big picture I am significantly "better off" than many others, I cannot will not allow that to excuse myself from showing some oomph and motivation to continue to do the best I can.

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!

I hope you continue to heal up and get your ailments resolved. I can tell you that I certainly sympathize because I have been dealing with a nagging left shin splint since the first of the year that ruined any chance I had of re-qualifying for Boston this year. However, on the plus side, I'm now cross-training with weights during the time off and I know I will be stronger for it in the end.

By the way, I wanted to thank you again for linking to our Blog Database on the main Faithful Soles web site. We now have bloggers from 37 states in the USA and 20 other countries. Good luck in your recovery and I know you'll be back on the road soon better than ever.
