Cycling (Trainer): 20 min. @ 4:45 a.m.I woke up early this morning, refreshed by the prospect of beginning an every other day and continuing a "running-resting-running" rotation for the next week leading up to this Saturday's 4th Annual Kyle's Running for a Memory race.
This will be my first organized run since the February 11 marathon. I will be dropping of both my registration, as well as my stepson's (pictured to the right with me from last April--he's just about my height now!), who will be competing in his first race. We will be running together, rather than my foolishly "going for the gold" in this one. This seems a more logical choice, as I don't want to exacerbate, or re-injure, anything, just take it nice and casual. Gregory has been training at school for a 5k in June, in addition to swimming competitively this winter. His swimming season finished this past weekend, and with a relatively flat course and nice-ish weather forecast for the upcoming weekend, this seems like a good race to try...
I keep emphasizing to him that what is important is to start, do your best, and finish, not "win." Sometimes the victory of completing a goal should be enough...
Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
