A Saturday Invitational... of Sorts

Weather Report: Mostly Cloudy, 45°F, 60% Humidity, Winds: From SW @ 12 mph; feels like 40°F.

This Saturday, Jordyn did not have any previously made commitments to play in an AAU basketball games, so she was able to compete in her school's tracj and field invitational. Unlike nay invitational I've ever seen, there was only her's and one other school at the meet. (Apparently, there was a much larger--and presumeably more competitive--meet going on in the neighboring district at which most schools were competing.)

At any rate, Jordyn once again ran in two new (to her) events: the 400m hurdles and he 4 x 800m relay. Because this was an "invitational" as opposed to a "meet" the order of events was adjusted and while I had hoped to see Jordy run on both races, my son, Jack was playing his pre-season baseball game at 12:30, so I could only watch the 400m hurdles.

As a high school track and field "man," myself, I've always found hurdles to be a "scary" endeavor, but Jordyn showed no fear in attacking the hurdles over one lap. She finished second of the field and second for her school; a fairly impressive debut.

A did manage to snap one photo of Jordyn's finish (centered above)and this one taken just before the start:

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE
