Tomorrow is the 17th Annual JP Morgan-Chase Corporate Challenge, a race I have not participate in for almost four years. The last time I ran it was in a much more convenient location, one I could walk to without much of a production. This year, however, the race is beginning and ending on the RIT campus, so I need to leave an hour-and-a-half before the race to take a shuttle bus crosstown, and will be unable to leave afterwards, as I'll be waiting to take the bus back to my car.

The "Challenge" distance is a relatively short 3.5 miles, but with an anticipated attendance of 10,000(!) "runners," and no chip timing to be had, I'm not expecting much in terms of PRs and will rely on my own timing via wristwatch. Experience in these "races" has taught me that 80% of those participating will be walking/running and that the race may well be over by the time I cross the start line. For the first time in a long time I may actually attempt to get near(er) the front of the pack at the start.

As for running today? UGH! The air was much too heavy around me and my legs could barely pump as I attempted to make it up the hills... I'm sure better things are coming in the future...

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
