This morning had one of those skies that is so clear that when I cloud does come into view, you can't help but stop and try to decide what it looks like...I entered the canal for my morning run at yet a different access point than I had used previously in an effort to keep this "new" thing new. I started at the Monroe County Nursing Home on East Henrietta Road and made my way down to Main Street, Pittsford. According to the Erie Canal Running Distances Chart, the initial distance, which I covered in roughly 44 minutes by my account, is 5.5 miles, so with the additional distance, that would make the round trip is 11.3 miles(!).
The canal was especially busy with bicyclist and walkers, which only makes good sense as it is the weekend. There were also quite a few rabbits, ducks, chipmunks and birds to be seen; at one point I was startled from my meditative run by the hissing of mallards who had warned me that I had veered too close to their family who were resting by the side of the paved bicycle path I was travelling. Well, excuse me!
Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
