Run: 4.9 miles in 0:36:03 min. @ 7:45 a.m.

Weather: Partly Cloudy, 25°F, 85% Humidity, Winds: CALM; feels like 25°F.
Target Pace: 9:00 min/mi
Actual Pace: 7:21 min./mi
Course: The same as yesterday: up Monroe Avenue to Exchange Street, to Main Street, veer right on Monroe Avenue, left on Alexander, then a right down University Avenue to Goodman Street, eventually taking a left down Harvard Street… but in reverse!

I am trying to get back into my training “groove,” which means that tomorrow, Monday, will be a “recovery day.” So this morning’s run may well be my last of the week, except maybe a nice run this evening with my wife. (Anne, like I, is trying to find time in her schedule to stay with our shared training plan—Boy Scouts, two Swim teams, middle school, house work, darkness, all seem to get in the way!) It is much more fun running together in the evenings, so we are trying to find a way to fit it all in.

One of the truly great things about living in a large city is that there are many great places to get lost in the concrete. This morning, for example, while running down Main Street (yes, MAIN STREET) I was again reminded how quiet the city can be, especially on a cold, early Sunday morning. Sure, there were a few folks waiting and sleeping in bus shelters, a few school buses lined up outside the Convention Center, one or two touring buses outside the performing arts center, and the occasional police cruiser patrolling the area... but, overall, a quiet, cold, reflective path was available nearly down the center-line of the main drag…

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
