It was four years ago this Christmas that Gracie formally joined our family. While Anne and I had driven to the kennel in Ottawa, Canada, three weeks earlier, as far as the kids knew she was delivered by Santa Claus to Anne's parents on Christmas morning. Gracie was wearing the same Santa-hat as that pictured above when she first appeared from behind the tree, though the hat looks even sillier (and smaller) now, it still suits her!
