Since my day off from school on Tuesday, I have not taken advantage of the few opportunities I've had to get out of the house and run. With Indoor Track and Field practices beginning this past Monday, though I have been engaged in running, it has just not been my own performances I have been building.
I continue to endeavor to retain my own four-day-a-week-Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday-Sunday training schedule. The weekend back-to-back runs are not as challenging for me to fit in especially given the wide-open nature of my winter schedule, at least until the team's five hour marathon track and field meets... but the goal of staying on track with my training scheduled has yet to meet with much success.
Right until last (Friday) night at about 7:00 p.m. I almost went for a run, but my own laziness and desire to stay home and relax got the better of me. Running should be relaxing and when it feels like work its better that I avoid it. Likewise, I had thought seriously about signing up for a race today. After some reflection though, I asked myself "what's to be gained by spending $20 and running a 5k today that couldn't be accomplished just getting out and enjoying the fresh early morning air on the streets of my neighborhood?"
The answer? Nothing... so, it was out into the rain I joyfully went.
