Writing On It: What's Been Up This Week?

Another busy (and cold) week which has left me little time for meaningful training or blogging, but not a week without things going on, some of which I'll quickly share in small "easy-to-digest" morsels:
1. Having completed reading finished John Lee Anderson's Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life, I jumped right into Buddha or Bust: In Search of Truth, Meaning, Happiness, and the Man Who Found Them All by Perry Garfinkel. Though a breezy read, I find myself missing Che.

2. The second marking period concluded at school this week and I have found myself (slightly) ahead of the game relative to my grading and planning. I am astounded by how quickly this school year is going by.

3. It has been (and will continue to be) a busy "sports weekend" at the Scotty house. The team I coach has two meets this weekend (the JV Championship meet last evening and a Varsity meet at Hobart College this afternoon), my stepson has swim meets--including club YMCA District Championships at RIT on Sunday--on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. My daughter is also running in a third indoor track and field meet, the RIT Invitational, on Saturday. For myself, I will be missing my second consecutive Freezeroo series race--the "dream" to run in all six has had the wheels come falling off. I certainly am spending a lot of time at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), though! (And fortunately both its swimming and filed house facilities are top notch.)

4. My classes are plugging ahead with our work with William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar and Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carry... both of which are turning out (for me anyway) to be much more meaty and worthwhile for the class than I had originally suspected they would be.

5. Our city (like most of the country it would seem) endured yet another winter storm, this one continuing the pattern of FREEZING temperatures and snowfall... I am very fortunate that my stepson took the initiative to take a break form his midterm studies to shovel the driveway this time. His mother and I are also very proud that he once again did very well on his grades this second quarter scoring at the top of his class at a very prestigious Jesuit school.
I guess not blogging for five days results in some blabber-build-up... sorry for the long explosion of words... So, how has your week been?

Embrassez votre été invincible!
