As is often the case when it comes to time and training, I definitely benefited from having Presidents' Week recess from school this past week. The time away from teaching and coaching gave me an opportunity to once again attempt to right my training ship, and to do so successfully. The trick, of course, will be to continue this progress in the coming weeks as I both return to work, begin teaching some new content as well as taking on the responsibility of mentoring a student teacher.
Here is what went down this past week:
Legend: R = Running, B = Stationary BicycleOne aspect of my training I need to improve upon to maximize the time I am putting in is to be more diligent in doing cross-training on those days currently labeled "Rest." While the FIRST program does limit the actual mileage one run's, it also requires you perform cross-training activities, something, to this point i have
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: Key Run #1 8 miles
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: Key Run #2 7.5 miles
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Key Run #3 15.2 miles
Sunday: Rest
TOTAL MILEAGE: R 30.7 miles (+8.1 miles from the previous week!)
Weigh-In*: 189.5lbs. (No change from the previous week) [* @ 4:45 a.m. on 2/23/09]
Laissez les bon temps rouler!
