"No city should be too large for a man to walk out of in a morning."~Cyril Connolly

biking, walking, roller blading... whatever. (For those who don't know, the "Inner Loop" is a four lane expressway of sorts which runs around the "inner" city--as pictured in the image to the right.) This entails the closing of eastbound and westbound lanes of the Inner Loop around downtown Rochester.
The City will close the Inner Loop the following Sundays in July, from 8:00am - 2:00pm: July 1, 15, 22, 29, the kick-off of the "series" was this morning and included a run of the Loop by our mayor, Robert Duffy, who has become something of a "regular" at local runs.
Although my having run in the Furry Scurry 10k yesterday limited my ability to run this morning on the Inner Loop, Anne and I did go down, walk around and take some pictures. Where possible, I've used quotes with a theme around cities and comunties as captions for each:

"On this shrunken globe, men can no longer live as strangers."~Adlai E. Stevenson

"I have an affection for a great city. I feel safe in the neighbourhood of man, and enjoy the sweet security of the streets."~Henry Wadsworth LongfellowBy the fairly large number of people we met walking, and especially bicycling, this morning it would seem that the event was a success, and both Anne and I look forward to returning in two weeks with our bicycles and meeting more of our neighbors.
Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!

Those are sure awesome pictures, looks like a perfect day to get out.
we've been very lucky to have some nice cool(er) weather lately... (still no rain though!)... it was an excellent day for a walk with my wife, and very weird to be walking down the middle of the same busy streets we drive to work each day.
thanks for stopping by and commenting!
