What a glorious week of running! Without formal races, flexible adherence to my plan, and camaraderie on the road, training this week was rewarding and beneficial. Only small concerns and fears crept into my thinking as I began to face the stark reality of my upcoming ultra-run… Am I really ready to do this? Should I look for a flatter course or one that is not a trail run? How will I handle the challenges of running the same loop five times? Am I training well enough and on the right types of surfaces?
These questions will of course only be answered once I have attempted the run, but I am beginning to feel more confident in affirming my potential for successfully tackling this challenge.
In the recap below those miles was schedule to run appear in parentheses. The total mileage I had been scheduled to run this week was 44 miles… and here’s how I t turned out:
