Date: Friday, October 5Weather: Sunny, 78°F
Courses: Harris Whalen Park Modified and Varsity Courses
Though Friday was my "recovery day," both of my kids, as well as, a number of my eighth grade students, were running at the Penfield-Irondequoit Invitational in (surprise!) Penfield, New York. My son, Jack, an I had actually attended this meet last year to watch some of my other students run. This year, both my kids were attending as particpant's, and both did very nicely, thank you.
Jack's race Modified Boys) was first, and unfortunately I was unable to get any pictures of him actually running as the angle of the sunlight at the start was too challenging for my camera and I. I did, howvere, get a pic of his team warming up at the start and of him afterwards. He placed 52nd overall and fourth on his team.

Jordyn also ran very well. She ran in the Vasity Girls B Race, which didn't go off until about an hour-and-a-half after her brother's run. The top seven runner's on Jordyn's team did not run, but she came in fifth overall(!) and first among those from her school who did participate. I think it was an excellent "statement" run for her, one in which she showed some growth and determination as a runner.

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
