Bring the Heat!

Bicycling: 22 miles To & From Work

To School: 11 miles in :43:16 min. @ 5:50 a.m.
Weather: Mostly Cloudy, 75°F, 82% Humidity, Wind: SW @ 8 mph; feels like 75°F.
Course: The usual course to work.

Though nearly 10 °F cooler this morning, the humidity was up 24%(!), so it felt much warmer, especially when I needed to stop pedalling to wait for a crossing signal. The ride today down the trail between Ridge Road and Vintage Lane smelled very much like camping to me. Oddly, it took me exactly the same amount of time to ride in today as it did yesterday... weird.

Back Home: 11 miles in :47:51 min. @ 3:00 p.m.
Real Time: 60 minutes
Weather: Partly Cloudy, 92°F, 41% Humidity, Wind: W @ 15 mph; feels like 94°F.

By far the hottest day of the year and I probably would have been wiser to simply drive my air-conditioned vehicle to school today. Instead, I opted to follow the same advice I give my students on an almost daily basis when they are faced with challenges: "show me what you can do do, rather than telling me what you can't." Ultimately, I am glad to have made it, thanks primarily to the three times I stopped to take off my helmet and glasses to wipe away the sweat which was getting in my eyes (it was getting hard top see), and of course, take some water for replenishment.

That makes two days in a row this week I have biked to work, and though I haven't "run" on either of those days, I feel good about hitting the trails tomorrow for a good run...

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
