Empty

Coming back into the house this morning, I came upon a hatched American Robin (Turdus migratorius)egg lying on the porch, to the left of our screen door. I had not noticed the delicate turquoise shell when I'd left for my run, but there it was now.

Looking more deeply into the shrub directly to the left of the steps, I further noticed a nest with another small piece of shell in it, presumably from the same empty egg shell on the step. I have to see either the mother bird nor it's fledgling. I hope they're okay...

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
