Violet Baudelaire: At times the world can seem an unfriendly and sinister place. But believe us when we say there is much more good in it than bad. All you have to do is look hard enough. And what might seem to be a series of unfortunate events, may in fact, be the first steps of a journey.
Just how I got around to running today can best be described as a series of unfortunate events.

The current training plan I'm working with calls for five days weekly of running: three in the middle and both days of the weekend. As previously chronicled, this has always been a challenge for me during the school year/track season as I have many places to be and the time I have "set" for just being home is minimal.

While I didn't get out yesterday, due to my having a track meet, being tired and needing to pick my wife up from the airport, I knew I would need to put in four consecutive days--not so much of a problem with tomorrow being the first of a four day weekend. But then this morning, unfortunately, my wife woke up very ill at about 3:00 a.m. I needed to call in sick so as to take care of her.

After getting my wife to sleep and arranging fro a visit to her doctor for the early afternoon, I decided I could sneak out for a short run. The sun was out, and though we are in the midst of a "heat wave," the temps did not seem too difficult... au contrar mon frier!

Breathe in, breathe out… YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
