Time: 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Weather Report: Fair, 90°F, 60% Humidity, Winds: SW @ 6 mph; feels like 90°F.
Location: As we began our weekend in the Adirondacks, Anne and I opted to take a hike up (and down) Mt. Arab, just outside Tupper Lake. In the literature the hike was described as "a moderate 7/10 of a mile." We both felt it was somewhat more challenging, perhaps due to a) the heat and b) the fact that we'd been in the car for four hours just before climbing.
Bird Species/Markings/Features:--Black capped chickadees and a palm warbler. A nice hike, but not much in the way of up-close-and personal birding.
Sights/Sounds/Activities: There was quite a bit of aviary chatter at the lower and upper thirds of the hike, while more quiet in the middle.
Notes: The Mt. Arab Trailhead signage. This is where Anne and I signed in before starting our hike.

One view of the trail early on. I thougth we had taken more pictures of the trail, which is not always as this particular image may indicate. As the first one up the trail, I was not the best person to atke pictures of it, as I was focused on looing for some birds, especially at a distance which I could photograph.

The sign on the cabin at the top of Mt. Arab. There was a ranger-in-training on duty each day, but we passed him coming down as we were going up.

Two images of the Adirondaks from the summit of Mt. Arab.

The fire tower atop Mt. Arab. The steps have recently been replaced to allow for hikers to climb the tower. While recently replaced, the steps were still awkward to climb and the tower itself difficult to eneter via the floor trap door.

The moutain range in a pic taken from the fire tower.

Anne on the steps of the cabin from my perspective in the fire tower.

The official summitt marker with the actual elevation scratched out(?)... and an image of the same range taken from the marker. (Note the slight difference in angle from the previous pic.)
