Piece: A Kanji characterLocation:Left Shoulder, centered below Haida 1 (Two-Headed Raven Crest)
As mainstream as getting a tattoo has become, kanji characters, often referred to as "Japanese" or "Chinese" characters, are probably the most common "first time" tattoos. This piece was one of the first I received and I got sucked into the kanji characters for much the same reason as most... they appear an exotic and unique way to convey a message about yourself. Unfortunately, if you check the web news, you'll find that often the message you are told your selected character sends may not necessarily be the actual interpretation. For example, I remember a movie (I can't recall the title) in which a guy gets what he thinks is a Japanese character symbolizing "Power" and it really means "Kung Pow Chicken."
The character presented to the upper right of the post is (I think) representative of the letter "S," which is the first letter of my surname. It was eventually framed at the top with the aforementioned Haida tattoo, thereby continuing the family theme of this arm's pieces.
Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
