As mentioned previously, Anne and I have been making our way through the first season the HBO televsion series Deadwood (2004) on DVD. With an alarming degree of regularity those folks who end up dead in town are fed to Mr. Wu's pigs, so lately I have been thinking about the question of "do pigs really eat humans?"Driving to Anne's parents today, we got to talking (again) about the show, and Anne recalled one film which led to my remembering a third, all which dealt with pigs and, oddly, their farts...
Anne: "In Silence of the Lambs there dosen't that bad guy have man pigs that eat people living in a pit?"I never was much good at Science-y stuff, but fortunately, my ignorance of the subject makes me the perfect cross-species bio-comedian!
Me: "I hadn't thought about it in a while, but I think so. That would suck, getting eaten by pigs."
Anne: "Yes..."
Me: "You know I think in that Mel Gibson movie Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome they ahd pigs, too."
Anne: "Were they man-eating?"
Me: "No, but they lived in this pit and ran the city with the gas from theri farts... I think it was ETHER."
Anne: (Giggling) "Ether? You mean everyone in the city slept the whole time?"
Me: "What do you mean?"
Anne: (Laughing) "You mean METHANE! The pig's farts produce methane not ether! Ether puts you to sleep!"
Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!

Thanks for visiting ol' Mushy! I dropped over to check you out and man, it's going to take some time, what with 16 blogs to run through!
How do ever have time to do anything else? My 4 or 5 keep me hopping, but I like to hike, cook, write, read, golf, and other things besides blog. When do you run?
They look interesting and I'll take my time. The only question is, if I like them, which do I link?!
I like the hog post and have often wondered strange things about farts from things that eat humans! Got to be gross - don't you think!
