Wyoming Roadie Flashback: Vedauwoo Park, Wyoming

On our retrun trip to Cheyenne from Laramie, we took a slight detour and stopped briefly at another area of the rather extensive Medicine Bow National Forest. This time, seduced by the rock fromations visible from the thruway, we checked out Vedauwoo Park. The hiking trails follow the mountainous rock formations, some of which can be climbed by hikers.

As you can see from some of the pics below, my stepson and I took advantage of the opportunity to scale above and between a few the formations, but given the time, would have liked to have taken our climbing just a little further. The texture of the rocks provided for excellent footing and one's path across the rocks could be easily adjusted to suit differing levels of ability.

Most larger formations have been "named" after the common creatures (for exmple, Turtle Rock) they once resembled, perhaps more obviously in the past prior to some erosion.

It occurs to me again how many great National Parks and statewide park services there are to visit throughout our country, and what a tremendous recreational and spiritual resource they are.

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
