I Got (Ate) the Runnin' Bug(s)!

Run: 8 miles in :63:57 min. @ 6:00 p.m.

Heart Monitor Data: 991 cals, 88% MHR avg., 97% MHR max.

Weather Report: Partly Cloudy, 77°F, 94% Humidity, Winds: SSW @ 7 mph; feels like 77°F.

I made a disturbing (but not too surprising) discovery this evening after completing my run. I don't dig running through clouds of bugs! During the run, I could feel their little crunchy bodies splattering against my arms, and had to brush them off a number of times. Fortunately, the insects I "encountered" weren't the biting, bumble-bee-y type, just the annoying, easy-to-ingest-gnat kind of bug.

After taking my shirt off in anticipation of a cold shower, I looked into the mirror to notice that I had indeed been running through clouds of bugs (note the mutliple bug corpses circled in red in the pic above). On some talk radio shows, I've heard deejays refer to a person's face as their "grill"... and that's pretty much how my face, teeth and eyes felt after my run--like a car grill after a drive through the country on a really humid day--YUCK!

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
