The Training Week That Was... 11/19-11/25

Check out this week's overview of activities in the "chart" below:
Legend: R = Running, SB = Stationary Bicycling, and I've also noted increases (+x) or decreases (-x) from the previous week)

Sunday: R 5 miles
Monday: Day Off 1
Tuesday: R 7.6 miles
Wednesday: SB 30 mins.
Thursday: R 4.4 miles
Friday: Off Day 2(Injury)
Saturday: R 10.2 miles
TOTALS--R 27.2 miles (-13.35 miles), SB: 30 min. (No Change)
As I suspected a much lower mileage total following last week's high water mark of 40.55 miles. This change is due primarily to two things: first, I registered for, and ran in, two low (4.4-5 miles) distance races this week, and traditionally do not run more than once daily, and secondly, I "lost out" on one run due to an ankle tweak following Friday's Turkey Trot.

Fortunately, this coming week I begin to fall into a Winter pattern of racing on Saturday/Sunday once weekly and training on the road four of the remaining six days. At least once weekly, I will continue to rotate in a stationary bicycle ride for one day of road work. I would like to begin doing additional cycling "sessions" to supplement my road work, but I'll have to wait and see if the right opportunities present themselves... and if they do, whether or not I jump at them!

This week's "race" is the Jingle Bell 5k Run, to benefit the Arthritis Foundation, on Satruday, December 2. The (way) advance forecast is calling for a cool and wet day, but the world of weather can change completely in 7 days. Regardless of the weather, the cause is a good one and given the nuber of runners who eventually suffer from some of the many arthritic conditions, my hope is that it will be well attended and much money will be raised.

Embrassez votre été invincible!
