Who Wants to be a Bionicle?

When my wife wakes up in the morning to find me missing, the first thing she'll ask me is how my run went. Many times I give her the same response, something along the lines of "my lungs tell me I could run all day, but my knees tell me enough is enough."

A few days ago, as we were beginning the familiar conversation in a similar manner, I thought of her son, who we were going to pick-up from a Boy Scout trip in a few short hours, and how he once told me about how the Bionicle characters that he likes to play with have human lungs. (I could find nothing to support this in the Wikipedia Bionicle entry, but I know we talked about this being stated somewhere.)

Still, following his telling me of this unique "Bioni-background" I would often tease him about these little Lego-robots and how in their weird made-up world they exist as alien robots who somehow have human respiratory systems. It seems, of course, completely senseless to me. (Remember, this opinion is coming from someone who, at 37 years of age, still looks forward to reading new comic books every few weeks.)

But, on the other hand, part of me has to admit that it might be pretty sweet to be a Bionicle... running, jumping, heck maybe even swimming, for as long as your lungs will allow you without having to worry about your legs aching...

Adio, wli nanawalmezi.
