No trip to the YMCA tonight. While Anne accompanied Gregor to his siwmming practice, I stayed home and graded papers in anticipation of work on Monday. Well, I did school work and reseacrh online... about my legs.Yesterday my primary care physician suggested that I rotate the application of both ice and heat to my left ankle (of course I am doing the same to my right and knees... ugh!), in an effort to better manage the discomfort. Fortunately, I guess, for me, I'm sill on vacation for the remainder of this week, and, of course, have the weekend, so I have the time to follow his "directions." On Monday, President's Week Recess will be over, hopefully all my papers will be finished, and I will back in the trenches; able only to ice and heat in the morning (if I'm lucky) and in the evening after work.
In an effort to find some other "answers," I searched on WebMD.com regarding tendinitis treatment. There is no magic bullet that will allow me to wake up tomorrow cured. I knew this. Here are the suggestions the website offered, all of which are sort of obvious and all that I am currently trying:
Self-Care at Home--Rest, Immobilization of affected extremity, Ice to affected area, Elevation of affected extremity, Use of over-the-counter non steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (such as Advil or Aleve).I realize you can't believe everything you read on-line, the "outlook" for recovery from the "injury" is actually fairly positive: "With treatment and if you follow your doctor’s instructions, pain and swelling should go away after a few days without further problems."
Medical Treatment--Ice the affected area 20 minutes at a time every several hours for at least the first 24-48 hours, Change to heat treatments for the next several days, Elevate and immobilize the affected extremity.
The worst case scenario would seem to include surgery, which I would choose to avoid at all costs. But like many of you, my on-line friends from whom I appreciate the kind support, I, too, NEED to run, but will patiently try to wait it out...
Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!

Ouch! That's no fun :( Wishing you a speedy recovery! Sorry if that sounded like a lame attempt at being "punny"...ouch. Even lamer! LOL!
I added you to my fave links. Hope that's okay!
Glad you take the advice of the doctor. Stay away from running for a week. And spend a great time with your family!
You could post more about your school, the students and the place you live in. I would like to read that. :)
