"For what human ill does not dawn seem to be an alleviation?"~Thornton WilderFalling out of bed this morning, Gracie, our dog, and I went through our traditional routine; she went outside to check out the new (again) snowfall, and I made some coffee before checking my e-mail. My legs felt especially tight this morning, so I decided to work through a brief series of yoga poses. The short (12 minute) series that came to mind for practice consists of, in effect, centering poses and gentle stretching. The thought of using gentle stretching was suggested by Kara from Between the Miles in a comment to an earlier post of mine. Along with rest and ice/heat, this appears to be the direction I will be taking--thanks again to everyone for their comments!
In selecting a yoga series, the word "gentle" is tricky. The poses illustrated in Yoga for Meditation with Rodney Yee, are primarily mat-based, and not too terribly aerobically challenging. Most days, the personal choice of tape, or series, is dependent on what I want to garner from the experience at the time. Am I looking for an aerobic challenge, a clarifying stretch, or a hybrid of both?
Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
