In a week from today, my son and I (pictured to the right on Christmas morning) will be on the road travelling a little over six hours southwest of River City by car, to Dublin, Ohio, where I will be running in the Last Chance for Boston Marathon. Jack has not seen me run a race at that distance, and we have not had many chances to travel together, just the two of us, so we're both looking forward to the drive and spending time together. Barring a cataclysmic snowstorm, which would preclude us from travelling, all things appear to be moving into alignment for a nice weekend. Of course, the run itself is another matter... I have made a pretty enjoyable hobby out of running utilizing a "slacker-esque" approach to training... a few miles here, a couple of miles there with a long-ish run thrown in for good measure, which is what this afternoon's eight-and-a-half miles represents. I feel that I could have run longer, or even a little faster, but my goals was to use this time to become comfortable with the run in anticipation of next week's marathon, about three times the distance, but hopefully warmer or at least less windy.
Adio, wli nanawalmezi.
