Jordyn's First Track Meet!

Weather Report: Fair, 38°F, 50% Humidity, Winds: From SW @ 10 mph; feels like 36°F.

Following last week's partial rain out (for her team any way) at the pre-track season Victor Spring Break Out, my daughter's team, the Fairport Red Raiders, had their first "official" in season meet against West-side school, Churchville-Chili, this past Thursday afternoon (/early-evening!) While I was excited for Jordyn, and her performance, I had forgotten in the last twenty years, just how l-o-o-ng track meets took. Even as I high school track competitor myself, the meets never seemed to take the almost three hours that this one did--this meet though was between two suburban teams, both Fielding a semblance of Varsity and Junior varsity athletes.

I snapped a couple of pix of Jordyn starting and finishing her 400m individual run and her leg (the second) of the 4x4000m relay:

It was a successful meet for both the team (who won handily, seriously out-"manning" the smaller team) and Jordyn, who placed third in both of her individual runs (200m and 400m), and who's relay team (4x400m) won, too! I was amazed to see how well Jordyn ran and that she ha quite a bit of breathe left following both of her events. The coaching at her school seemed very well engaged with there athletes and it is exciting to see Jordyn warming up to the sport.

While I'm certain that the level (and size) of the competition is sure to improve as the season progresses, as a first-time track runner, Jordyn certainly has much to be proud of!

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
