I remember reading somewhere that the Kenyan runners don't always train with a fast pace in mind, but rather, with the intention of maintaining a steady, slower pace as the goal. I tried to keep this in mind this afternoon as I padded up and down the familiar streets along the city line between River City and the town neighboring it to the south. The miles did not feel so physically easy to come by today, so I tried to ease the psychological load by, again, focusing on maintaining a steady, rhythmic pace, succeeding for the most part.Just before getting dressed to go for a run, I stepped on the scale and noted that my weight has risen to 196 lbs.--OUCH! It seems as though this "weight thing" is getting a little out of hand, or rather my lack of discipline is. (So much for the "pass" for eating Ben & Jerry's I felt I earned by placing in this past weekend's race!).
