Run: 5.8 miles in :52:13 min. @ 7:00 p.m.

Weather Report: Partly Cloudy, 79°F, 35% Humidity, Winds: From NNW @ 8 mph; feels like 78°F.

Pace: 9:00 min./per mile avg.

I had intended to begin a training regiment (of sorts) this evening, the first "key run" of which would entail doing some 800m runs at the local high school track. After making my way to the school, and counting this as part of the prescribed 10-20 minute warm-up, I noticed that the track was very crowded with neighborhood kids who were working on what looked to be basic principles of sprinting and jumping. I did not want to completely abort my training, so I veered east and began what would turn out to be a very slow run of little significance except that despite a strong aching in my knees, I did make it almost six miles.

The downside is that I can't recall the last time I've run such a short distance at such a slow pace...

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!

thanks--this picture was taken last August near Rabbit Ears Pass in Colorado during my running in a 192-mile relay from Laramie, Wyoming to Steamboat, Colorado. Those of us on the team who were not running the legs at this partulcuar time, slept in the van until it was time to go!
