Canal Path Come Along!

Run: 8.8 miles in :63:45 min. @ 7:45 a.m.

Weather: Sunny, 59°F, 87% Humidity, Winds: WSW @ 5 mph; feels like 59°F.

Pace: 7:29 min./per mile avg.

Erie Canal Footbridge, Genesee Valley Park... Genesee River Footbridge:
the serpentine trail emerges from the park as it slices through the edges of the grass fields under leafy cover...

Kendrick Road, West Henrietta Road:
as the trail way winds along the canal beyond the city limits--past the university, beyond the community hospital (where my grandmother recovered from cancer nearly fifteen years ago), my single paved path moves out from below the bushy canopy and divides by two, shifting into a two-lane path split by a single yellow line-- eastbound on the right, westbound to the left...

390 Expressway, Clinton Avenue:
travellers pass in a coming-and-going direction, propelled by shoe, skate and cycle... despite the building heat and rising sun, each works up an acknowledgment--head nod, "hello," smile, "good mornin'!"

Winton Road, Edgewood Avenue:
huffing and puffing by hissing mallards each of who have seemingly contributed large cylindrical droppings to the trail... finally reaching the turnaround port-a-john at Lock 33... I leave a deposit, too, and return back to the start…

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
