My Green Toe: The Mystery (and Color) Deepens

This afternoon I snapped a new photo of the "mystery veggie." Ideally, I would have taken this new picture framed just as the earlier one was in order to better illustrate the change, but if you've spent anytime on my humble site, my digital photos are rarely ideal! Come to think of it, it might have been cool if I'd put a ruler next to it at each stage of development, that way it's increase in size would be clearer.

To give some perspective, as well as, to refresh our collective memory, the first picture, originally posted on July 30:

It has definitely grown larger and turned a deeper shade of green. There appear to be some darker green streaks along the length of the veggie... I still think those who have suggested it is a squash are on the right track, but darned if it doesn't look like a watermelon to this city slicker.

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!

Oooooh!!! I think it may be a spaghetti squash!!! Sorry - I get really excited about vegies in the garden! I have some, and most of mine are yellow, but a few of them look pretty much like a watermelon. Why I have no idea but I will try to take a picture and see if yours look like mine.... heehee!

Hi! I put up a photo of my funny spaghetti squash to compare yours to! Not quite the same but very very similar - the leaves as well.

oddly, the thing continues to grow and my wife suggested today that it's beginning to take on the yellow-ish hue of a spaghetti sqaush... when guessing the type of vegetabke though there is no accounting for my (seemingly) poor color-vision ;)
