The Training Week That Was… 10/29-11/3

With only two weeks left until the “big race” and my ankles and knees feeling a little hinchy (I’m sure it’s some sort of psychosomatic response to nerves) I dialed back my mileage quite a bit this week choosing instead to focus on some cross-training, getting my equipment together and preparing psychologically. It was also a great week to celebrate the success my children have had in their inaugural cross-country seasons.

The total mileage I had been scheduled to run this week was 38 miles:
Legend: R = Running, w/A (with my wife, Anne). I've also noted increases (+x) or decreases (-x) from the previous week)

Monday: Recovery Day
Tuesday: (4) No Run--Recovery Day
Wednesday: (10) R 8.8 miles
Thursday: (6) R 9.2 miles
Friday: Recovery Day
Saturday: (10) R 11.4 miles
Sunday: (8) No Run—Cross-Training: Approx. 60 min. of hiking/25 min. on a stationary cycle

TOTALS--R 19.5 miles (-23.3 miles from the previous week)
Weigh-In*: 181 lbs. (-1 lbs.) [* took place at 5:00 a.m. on 11/4]
I missed the mileage goal by 18.5 miles, but, no worries, as I don’t feel that I’ve lost an conditioning as a result. I have been trying to stay loose and healthy rather than over trained and injured.

Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
