Canal... Snow!

Run: 7.8 miles in 1:07:00 min. @ 9:15 a.m.
Pace: 8:35 min./per mile

Weather: Cloudy, 14°F, 71% Humidity, Wind: From ESE @ 10 mph; feels like 1°F(!).
Course: From Genesee Waterways Center, west to Lyell Avenue (approx. 3.87 each way). The distance was determined by using the Erie Canal Running Distances Chart (out-and-back, paved path, flat) available on the Greater Rochester Track Club website.

The temperature this morning was very cool, especially when one considers the windchill was only 1°F! As a result of the intense cold, any snow that remained from yesterday's quick blizzard, had frozen over. While the canal way which runs East of the city, and moves quickly into Suburbia, was nicely maintained (translation: plowed), the canal way West of the Genesee remains "au natural."

Despite some occasionally challenging footing, I quite enjoyed the uneven crusty nature of the surface this morning. For some reason the crunching, icy and bumpy ice makes my feet feel good; it's kind of like getting a foot massage of sorts.

Embrassez votre été invincible!
