Role Call: Mary, Joseph, three kings, incidental shepherd (who was at one point the "Joseph" of the set), two lambs, two angels, camel, mule, and bull...The plaster figurines which populate our manger have been in my family for as long as I can remember. In fact the only figure who is not plaster or ceramic is the most significant one, the baby Jesus, who is crafted of molded plastic. In keeping with tradition, however, He is not in the manger yet, and won't be until Christmas Eve, at which point the baby Jesus will be brought out of storage from the map chest and placed in the cardboard "wood-esque" crib (pictured to the right).

While I can recall Mary, Joseph and the rest of the "cast" being part of the set since childghood, I can't exactly recollect how the plastic Jesus came into the collection... but that is a story better saved for a later post, when He is properly revealed.
Breathe in, breathe out... YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
