Snowy, Shadowy Day

"Look round and round upon this bare bleak plain, and see even here, upon a winter's day, how beautiful the shadows are! Alas! it is the nature of their kind to be so. The loveliest things in life, Tom, are but shadows; and they come and go, and change and fade away, as rapidly as these!"~Charles Dickens

Like much of the United States, we in River City (Upstate New York), have been living under one snow advisory or another for the past 36 hours. While the current "Winter Storm Warning" is currently scheduled to elapse sometime tomorrow morning (following an additional 3-5" of snow), the kids and my hopes of a "snow day" tomorrow are seeming less and less likely.

There has been a pretty significant (for December, anyway) accumulation of snow, and fortunately the temperatures were not so cold as to eliminate our chances of going for a walk or two this afternoon and early evening. There is nothing uite like a winter walk...
