A Movie On the Run

A number of local running clubs in my running communtity (and maybe your's, too) will be converging on theaters this upcoming week to take in the film Spirit of the Marathon. Were it not for a previously scheduled meeting with my daughter's high school guidance counselor about college, my wife and I would be joining them.

I am always happy to support the depiction of our sport on film, and am especially intrigued when so many folks in-the-know seem to be of the opinion that this film does a fine job at doing this. It seems to me that when I try to verbally describe the feeling I get get while running or following a great run, I have a hard time capturing it in language which does the experience justice.

Promoted as "the first ever non-fiction feature film to capture the drama and essence of the famed 26.2 mile running event. Filmed on four continents, the movie brings together a diverse cast of amateur athletes and marathon luminaries," I look forward to following up on the film when it reaches DVD. For those who do have the opportunity to get out on January 24 for a show, enjoy!

Breathe in, breathe out… YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
